On a wet week end, where only a boat should be out, there are some that will still enjoy the great outdoors.
Building bases with the boys at the local park,
attending zombie, disco parties,
enjoying the empty spaces on the abandoned beaches.
or getting dropped upside down in the name of school sports.
a cosy doona and old literary friends, like Alison Lester,
Kaz Cooke and her "Terrible Underpants",
Derek Jarman and his stark and marvellous Dungeness "Garden",
l
and Maira Kalman's wonderful "Principles of Uncertainty".
And there will always be the perfect cookies of friends.....
and a cosy sleep in.
Did you mooch this week end?
Nice to know they still build bases. Mine looked similiar on return home. Demudding it seems takes at least two showers as there are still remnants on the knees.
ReplyDeleteWe did a lot of mooching over here in this cold house. Cups of teas with Middle C. Finished a book whilst Eldest at Soccer on Sunday. I was hidden in the car because was it not at all insane to be playing on Sunday? so in protest I sat in the car with the girls, hot chips and my book. Cleaned out some winter wooly drawers. I retrieved the slow cooker from the back of the cupboard to cook up a hearty beef burgundy. Even cooked an apple pie which passed the panel of experts. It makes sense to bake in winter doesn't it because it warms the house so.
And No.3 has started up in her kitchen again. I was just served hand soap mixed with the dye from a red felt pen then chilled in the freezer till just right.
I feel quite recharged after this long rainy weekend and I hope you do too, it looks like you had all the perfect ingredients for a relaxing one also.
I take great delight in the wholesome dirt of a good play in the mud. They must be so close to stopping it that I can barely muster feigned annoyance at the grubbiness.
DeleteWhat a beautiful weekend. I'm glad it wasn't sunny and showy. The weather screamed 'hunker down' and I obeyed.
ReplyDeleteI dread private school rugby matches and the injuries they generate. I've started pushing 'chess' as a macho option.
If only the weekend, and childish innocence, could last forever ...
I am working on theatre sports as a possible option!
DeleteYep lots of book reading at our place too. Folk of the Faraway tree mainly. Love that shot of your girls conked out in the big bed. Priceless. I don't have ones that conk out.Ever. Mine only sleep under duress in a dark room, their own dark room. Hope your big boy is ok. melx
ReplyDeleteOurs sleep anywhere and usually get sleepwalked to their beds. We like to make them VERY tired! As for the Iceman, he was up five minutes later for another match!
DeleteWe had markets, birthdays, kitchen-warmings and lunches this weekend. I'm well overdue for a hunker. Fabulous zombie daughter, by the way. Hope you're ok my glowstick buddy.
ReplyDeleteAhoy Matey! Sounds like a wonderful weekend to mooch. I love the bedding in the last photo.

Here, mooched on "TimeTeam" on the History channel.
ReplyDeleteAll of that digging in mud seemed to touch the right note.
BIG seas today.
Love that big filthy boy on that white chair!
ReplyDeleteLike a magnet!
DeleteCrazy weekend here really, not too much time for mooching, though I did fit in a spot of knitting and as you know I'm reading Jarman too. Glad you found your copy :D
ReplyDeleteWhat a pretty zombie you have there ;D
How did shorty go with the wizard of oz? I made the mistake of showing the kids "ding dong the witch is dead" on YouTube last week (long story). Now there is huge anxiety about witches and tornadoes and houses falling on people. Dagnabbit. I should have known better.
ReplyDeletewell that sounds a really good week end
