Bloggerazzi

Spotted lunching in the expensive old stuff district today was the famous Martha McMarvelous Child (MMMC) and her beautiful assistant.
While Shorty contemplated the delicious hardness of a nice practical stool, Miss Martha preferred to luxuriate in the comfort of plushy pink velvet.
This apple fell in close proximity to its tree, perusing a bit of West German juggery.
Wake up and smell the roses, Shorty.
They're going to follow us around like that all morning unless we shake them up a bit. Want to run like a Bitossi bull in a China shop?

Paddo Antique Centre Catalogue

So we were going to meet a friend for coffee. It was just Shorty and I and the 6th child, UFO Knee-'em. After three years of being cursed that big hooter now gets me the good parks at Big Boy School. Then we waited for Martha until I realised I had misread the e-mail. Because my brain is full, okay! So we decided to make it a reconnoitre trip for tomorrow's actual meeting.
This is a litany of lovely stuff (or not) just to run your eyes over if you are in Samoa or Darwin or such. Step away from the stools, Annie!
I may have to recheck this little bird thing tomorrow. It's a just a little bit Picasso-esque.
But where is the green glass???
The milk glass is all about. I'm never leaving that stuff in an oppy again, seeing what they charge here. I may open my own stall in this place! That one's for Bungalowgirl although I know you usually do white.
Here's a bit for Scandi Andy although he normally pays no more than $5 for a piece of West Germany. This was about $30.
Duck! I gave a set of three of these away at the garage sale of regret before I went overseas. They had red faceted glass eyes. Appropriately they were bought after a big night out when I was a mere tacker.

These are often at Roy and Brian's.

I got these at the Kawana Lifeline in 2010 for $2. These are $25!
Then she started to channel Marilyn on the air vent...
and began looking for a bambi.
Which one would you have bought her?
The bambi vase started to chat through the glass with other bambis. "Tappity tap, clink", it said.
Once she started lining up the merchandise, I knew our number was up and it was time for a long rainy day sleep.
Back tomorrow I hope!

Op Shop Karma

It's been a while. I had the stuff sitting in the car for a couple of weeks and no time to drop it. Sunday a girlfriend ambushed me with two more bags of boy clothes. I was too tired to scream "NOOOO!" at the top of my voice but should have. Instead I just threw them in with the rest and took it all to Ron and Brian's. I was hoping for a little op shop karma. There was that old black stool but I have really got to get over stools. There was a picnic basket and a big toy box. No, no, no. The Big Fella has expressed a concern that there may be too much vintage 'crap' (how dare he) in this ol' farmhouse.
So I went modern, although it is called 'Retro'. The karmically weird thing is I ordered this very towel rail from a local bathroom shop for $150 yesterday. It is the same design as the toilet roll holders which we bought about ten years ago. There it was inside the oppy for the princely sum of $5!
I had to make a stand on the towel issue. It has reached a critical level to the point where the Mother in law commented on the quantity of towels in the washing. It is partly due to the swimming and partly that nobody hangs them up so the Big Fella puts them all damp and manky into the basket. They will get towel rations now.
There were a few other little bonuses. I broke one of these this week.
I always love some new old knitting needles. The yellow and blue ones were in a packet labelled Balene. The information on the packet was interesting.
Who knew knitting needles were once made from whalebone?
Probably Annie from Knitsofacto for one.
This buttery yellow tablecloth was too good to pass up for $4. It's that old heavy well washed linen. We are on a bit of a yellow bender it seems.

More tea, Shorty! We have to get the drill out now!

Sick Puppies

This one is sick today. He has been amusing himself with a spot of millinery. It just screams Easter to me.To his credit he is undertaking the feeding and watering of the wee-un. Duck!
Some of the creations are less pretty and more worrying. It's okay! They haven't built a crack cubby in their room. This is apparently some kind of projectile launching device, a.k.a. gun.
When they are making stuff I know they are all pretty happy...
and not so grumpy.
The bounce is coming back slowly...
as the need to exert control is gradually released.

I said gradually...
There may even be a small craft project in store...
or just some aimless flower gazing and tea drinking.
Rest-oration works for people too, you know.

Day Off

This morning I almost saw the dawn because an overzealous 11 year old wanted to go to morning swimming training. Where does this rogue gene come from? Sport schnort!
Anyway it turns out dawn is quite pleasant. It got me a bit inspired about my first day 'off' in a few weeks.
I made A list on the laundry door since I knew I would be passing it frequently. The A list did involve dealing with my nemeses, Vexatious Vacuum and Maligna Mop. We do not cross paths often but when we do, I get feisty.
I drove Vexatious to places I should have known better to avoid. The Horror of what lay beneath the couch cushions still lingers now. Seventeen, YES, seventeen Zoopa Doopa wrappers had been sucked, scrunched and stashed in them there couch crevices.
Kathy Karma supported me through the crisis and we found my old friend, Red Bird...
and Daisy Ring, both of whom had been missing in action for some time. Daisy is nestled in a half finished bit of artistica which was of course has been subdued by the domestica yet again.
This name book turned up. Do I really need it now? Five down, 34, 995 to go.
Then we met with the best little mother in law in the West-ern suburbs who, on her birthday, presented me with the most fragrant pile of fluffy towels and washing once again. The woman is a saint and always on Shorty's A list. (and mine)

We returned the library books where there is no longer a can amnesty. I reluctantly paid the fine because I needed to get a book out for the third time. I could have bought it for the same price! I also got the 'Bombora', history of surfing in Australia DVD, again.
We rushed to the school pool to watch the boys sizzle like pork crackling in the sun and beg me for slushy money through the fence as I was leaving. Is it just me or is this a little bit 'Boy in the Striped Pajamas' (or lairy trunks)?
Continuing with the child labour camp theme, Shorty pushed a trolly for me at Officeworks for yet another school book top up. Put your back into it, Shorty! There's gruel at the end of aisle three.
There it is all ticked off bar the oppy which we'll save for another day.
All in all it would have been more restful to go to work but we had a lovely swim at the end of the day then I noticed the golden light again in the kitchen. This time it was quite literally golden. There seems to be a bit of Hello Yellow going on again!
