Stacking it.

It seems like everyone we know has gone away this holiday. It is Spring after all. They've gone to the 'Woomba, the north coast, the south coast, the 'Mania (Tassie), the Bay....we are here because I am going to the Costa del Wesley every day for some time on my special sunbed, getting my special suntan on the top left quadrant of my body. The Big Fella is decimating the yard with some enthusiastic Spring pruning and the boys are decimating their bodies with enthusiastic bike/ skateboard riding (and stacking).
So for me what to do, what to do... especially in the wee hours when I can't sleep.

I saw these on Seriously Daisies' site made in perfect rainbow form but I was too lazy to go and get the right colours so it is just a left over trial set. Those balls could make a fairly nice Wilma Flintstone type of necklace!
They are a new toy therapy for Shorty's lining up tendencies.

She can stack them inside each other.

She can line them up in a row (of course.)

I can play with her mind and just see what happens...

Predictable.

The balls can be useful livestock corrals...

or a tribute to the Carnival of Flowers in Toowoomba...

and anybody can get into the action.

  1. I reckon if you are stacking up your holiday against the rest, it is looking pretty impressive.

  2. My comment keeps disappearing. Apologies if you get multiple copies...

Love the colours you used. I am impressed by your wee hours productivity. I may or may not waste time playing pointless IPad games like dragonvale instead. I have bookmarked the pattern for use once I actually learn to crochet. If you keep posting such cute crochet creations I am going to crack and finally get my crochet on

    1. If anyone could learn to crochet, you could! Just get the few basic stitches and a simple pattern to practice on and you'll be off and running.

  5. This is brilliant! I'm going to lose sleep tonight wondering how I can fit this project in before the baby arrives. Shorty is having the best holiday ever, can't wait to see what your next endeavour is and I have to agree with her - I would have to colour code the balls with then bowls as well :-)

  7. Don't forget your sun-bloc Annie!
(this is the first thing that poppped into my head, I hope you don't mind a little and very weak joke? I know you're not sipping cocktails by the pool. I wish you were though)
I love your little baskets and balls. I tried to teach myself to crochet once - couldn't get past chain stitch. I also really love that fishy fabric. it's gorgeous.

    1. That fishy fabric is the back of a quilt I bought years ago for our boy, Fishy, from Seed. You are not wrongbaboutvthe sunblock. Apparently I have to avoid the sun like Vampira now that I am Radioactive Woman.

  8. Ha! I have a child who likes to make sure things are matching and in colour order. He just can't cope if they're not! Hilarious!

    1. Still trying to work out how to get up there between zaps at the Wesley. When is the next paint along...?

  10. You are such a brilliant crochetter(sp?). Really, there's a massive opportunity for you in crafty endeavours when the whole damn treatment's finished. I for one know I'd be pushing through the crowds for a Wainbow Wilma necklace. PS I like playing with the chillun's minds as well!

    1. PPS 'Stack' is such a cracker of a word. As is 'stoked'.

    2. Some of the chillun's words are most usable whilst others like 'flog' (e.g.We flogged them!) are less appealing.

I have not crochetted this much in years. Its easier to get out than the paints with less cleaning up and more portable!

The Wainbow Wilma necklace may have to happen now just so the name has a home.

I drive past your house every day now on my way from the zap. 'Tis very quiet there!

  11. These are beautiful, my Roboboy would be colour coding and sorting all these items and have Shorty doing his bidding with the rest of your house too. Could you get up to Toowoomba even for the day?, i am sure you would get a massive energy boost if you could, even the breezes are better up there. mel x

  12. I'm joining you at staying home right now.
But there are a lot of visitors about.
I do love pom poms, particular rainbow ones.
I don't see the Noahs in the small person's enclosure.
