Our friend lives in a house that backs onto a golf course. The girls spent a little time foraging for golf balls in the 'rough'.They warned us to watch out for ticks but even after a bathe, a hair rinse and a cuddle with hair stroking at bed time this bad boy got through the lines. He was in a bit deep for my tick extraction experience and he was on her head which made me nervous.

So I called the ambo! I thought they would extract it and be on their merry way but they said they couldn't do it and would have to take her to the childrens' hospital. It was a while before the local doctor would be open and she wanted it out, STAT! so ...

There was no fear or nerves but quite a bit of excitement. She had a bed and pillow and real seatbelt instead of the baby harness type that we endure in the car seat. The ambulance people were women who had the same doctor toys that Shorty has in her room- somewhere.

The doctor wore pink, they gave her a pink ice block and she had a pink chart. In Shorty currency thee are all point scorers. BUT WAIT- for no extra cost you get this- YES! Your own tick to take home and wave in the nannas' faces or anyone else who might drop in.

"Wanna see my tick?"

Strangely all of this happened the first morning of the first week that I did not have to go near a hospital.

Then the same day as the tick episode we had the ankle issue...

then on Wednesday, the wrist situation...

They told me to stand behind the door so I didn't receive any radiation.
Murphy and his spooky old Law! It must be a Halloween thing.

  1. I hate to ask do they get ticks out? never had one or nursed anyone with one! Looks no no tears either. And so bloody typical, that clown Murphy....

  2. I like how you laugh in the face of radiation. We've had our share of emergency rooms as well. Bloody kids and ticks and wrist and stitches.

  3. Naughty tick. It'll stay itchy for a while.
Seems the hospital has been the place to be this week.
Hope you don't have to go anywhere near the place for a while now.

    1. I have cancelled today's appointment and am in seclusion.

  4. It be the full moon which brings on such happenings my dear!
Just curious how did they get the tick out? What was the outcome off the ankle and wrist injuries? Hopefully just a good lathering of Arnica.
You will be back on the DOCS alert file!

  5. Oh no! Touch wood, in my parenting role there's only been one hospital visit. Perhaps too much self-diagnosis and treatment! Would love to see your tick Shorty.

  6. Gosh, you're having more than your fair share of hospital visits! Hopefully that will be your last on for some time! The tick thingy, yuk! Ada :)

  7. You and your gang are a cracker! All these emergency runs and it's not even school holidays! And halloween at that, hope it didn't interfere with the festivities. mel x

  8. You've got to be kidding!!!!! But how did the other 2 kids get off so lightly?

  9. Yikes! I thought the tick episode was exciting enough, especially with the ambulance ride. But three separate incidents in one week? Maybe you should buy a lotto ticket...

    1. I do love an ambulance ride. I did another one years ago with B2.
Maybe I should check the Lotto ticket I bought last week and probably lost, too!

  10. Oh good lord Annie, I can't believe it! ;-) Hope everybody is ok now?

  11. I feel somewhat better now, knowing it's not only my visiting that causes hospitalisations in your family. But THREE!!!???! Crazy stuff.

  12. I have a device that looks like a pen with a loop at the end for removing ticks - came from Sweden - It's meant to unscrew them so that the head doesn't get left in the skin. Do you have Limes disease in your area?

  13. I hear they have now alotted you your very own personalised family ambulance.
    Colours as requested.

  14. Good grief! Do you have shares in the hospital there by now???

  15. Three in a week - goodness! Had to laugh at radiation comment. ;)
