Burn, Baby, Burn

Soon we will be starting on a clean slate, at least on the laundry door.
I just can't quite rub it out yet. It gives me such pleasure!

This is what big kids do when they stay home from school sick- in the name of entertaining the three year old of course.

I see no three year old in this construction. Nice that he's still not too old to do this and lie in it all day even though it was ridiculously hot again.

There are bush fires about again and they have made the sky all hazy and the sun glow in a very Zombie Apocolyptica kind of way. But it's pretty, right?

Now in tribute to all things burning, this song entered my head in the radiotherapy change room. They should have it on their musak  CDs instead of Andrew Lloyd Webber. It is the perfect  radiotherapy theme music.

Since it was subliminally implanted thanks to my burnt shoulder bits, it has become what I think is known as a brain worm. Just can't get rid of it!

Behold those remarkable catsuits! Go on! You know you want to dance.
I know I do!!!

  1. Annie, how are you feeling? So happy to see that completed checkerboard. Done and dusted! You have been such an inspiration and so brave throughout the whole ordeal. Let's dance away!

ps. I wore a Catsuit in the early 90's when I used to be skinny as a rake :-)

    1. When I met my husband in Far Northt Queensland he owned a stinger suit for life saving in the jellyfish water over summer. All six foot two inches of long legged curly mopped Lycra...yet I still married him!

  2. We had catsuits, then boiler suits - my daughter has a " onesy". All getting baggier and baggier.

    1. That would be the original Biopsy Blanket started the day of the dodgy mammogram for the nerves. I hadn't crocheted for years. It was followed closely by Chemo Quilt and now Radiation Rug. It came out of Maya's preference for all thigs rainbow. Thus the Rainbow Toes book.

  5. Does the radiotherapy actually burn your skin? What's the go? Does it penetrate the surface and burn cells below? Does it hurt while it's happening?

I can imagine how glad you are to see it all over with.

I believe these sort of awful experiences make one a better, more empathetic person. If you haven't already, you'll help someone who is going through something similar and you're a wiser woman for it.xo

    1. You feel nothing lying their and think about school stuff and memories from childhood and grocery lists. The first few weeks I felt nothing them it got itchy. It started to come out about week four like a very nasty sunburn. The sort you get if you fall asleep on a beach on the Sunshine Coast in December at 11 am for six hours. Most unattractive and sore. Now it's peeling. It does surface and sub dermal cells. Good cells repair themselves. Bad cells can't. This could be the premise for a sci fi children's book.

  7. I went to comment when we had another power cut, it is very much like living in the Joe era of Seventies Brisbane. I enjoyed the cat suits but I'm afraid Tina didn't do it for me, not like the Trammps do with their version of disco inferno and the video is also a fashion statement. Check it out on you tube, i am writing this on my ipad and do not know how to hyperlink the link sorry.

We must go out dancing in 2013, it is way overdue, just need to find a place that plays cheesy music and serves Kahlua and milk!

    1. Youre right about the Trammps but I couldn't get a decent video. They were all over pixelated but the flares were bootyful. In fact I substituted the word catsuit for the original word I had which was"flares". Great minds, MsJulie. Great minds!
